Morimachi Float: Minamimachi, Yusuisha

Saturday, September 13, 2025

The center of the town was once crossed by the Ota River, and springs could be seen everywhere until around 1955 (Showa 30). The name was given in the hope of unity and development for this town that gathered around clear, abundant spring water. In 1984 (Showa 59) it separated from Sakae-cho and became independent, and residents have worked hard to revitalize their town. The float plays a major role in their unity and friendship. • Joinery by Tokio Iguchi (Minamimachi) • The ranma carvings show "kirin among waves" on the left and right and "dragon among waves" at the back, with waves on three sides expressing "minami" (south) Builder: Katsuro Terada (Minamimachi) Carving: Takashi Shimura (second-generation Ryucho, Mikuni, Fukui) Painting: Kikuro Muramatsu (Minamimachi) Wheels: Toshio Muramatsu (Nakayokocho) Calligraphy of the float name on the front blind: Doshin Suzuki (Saikoji Temple, Honmachi)
