Morimachi Float: Ichiba, Asakusakan

Sunday, December 21, 2025

"Asakusakan," the festival float of Ichiba in Morimachi. The Kannon statue next to Honryuji Temple in the Ichiba district is closely connected to Tokyo's Asakusa Kannon, which is why it was called "Asakusa Kannon." The float is said to have been given the same name. The previous float was sold to Kawai in Fukuroi City. The current float is said to be the third generation, and surviving records of its construction give a detailed picture of the enthusiasm and effort of the young people and residents at the time.
