Fukuroi City Float: Naka-Kuno, Zuihousha

Sunday, September 28, 2025

"Zuihousha" of Naka-Kuno, Fukuroi City, is a float whose consecration ceremony and unveiling parade were held in October 2007. This time, lacquerwork and metal ornament work was carried out by Yamamoto Kenchiku of Morimachi, and after a dismantling restoration known as "yatai kumi-barashi," it was unveiled again on September 28, 2025. This district began long ago with a "kasanboko," went through a flower float made from a converted handcart and the first Zuihousha built by local carpenters, and arrived at today's second-generation Zuihousha. Among the 16 towns, it has owned a float relatively early, and it is a district that has nurtured tradition not only through shrine rituals but also through the children's festival (*). At this unveiling too, the smiles of the children in happi coats were memorable, and I am even more excited for the parade at next month's festival. *Excerpt from the website "Fukuroi Kita Festival"
